I’m sure all of us can agree that if asked, “what would be the one thing you wish you could do before you leave this Earth,” we would all have an answer. Some of us are working tirelessly to achieve our dreams, while others are sitting around watching life happen and constantly procrastinating. When I was a little girl if anyone asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I would always say, “a writer and English teacher.” I had this dream that I would teach children the art of writing and then in my spare time, write books. When you’re a kid it doesn’t matter what you want to do. Nothing seems to small or big. But when you grow up and reality hits, then you start to realize that you don’t have a genie in your pocket on standby ready to nod their head and make all your dreams come true. I had to work really hard to be a writer and I learned a lot of things along the way that I want to share with my followers.
- Dreams only come true when you believe in yourself.
- No one is going to ever to want what you want more than yourself.
- The dreams in your sleep are different then the real ones. So, if you’re going to accomplish anything in life you’re going to have to wake up.
- You get 24 hours in a day. You can sleep, work, eat, hang out, get drunk, or party. What you choose to do and in what order is your CHOICE. But you should never close your eyes at night if you haven’t done at least ONE activity towards your goals.
- If you fail at your goal, dust yourself off, get back up and figure out Plan B, C, D, E and so on.
- Dream BIG! If you think small, you’ll get small. But if you dream big and get halfway there, then at least you got more than you would have.
I never got the English teacher job, but I’m on my THIRD novel and when I tell you that I faced a lot of roadblocks, moments where I thought that my dreams were bigger than reality and even times when I threw up my hands and said enough is enough. I can tell you that I stuck to the six things above and I’m happy that I can tell my younger self and you that, “DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE!”
